“That’s the thing with magic.
You’ve got to know it’s still here,
all around us,
or it just stays invisible for you.”
— Charles de Lint
Sunshine … Water … Mountains … Cool Breeze … Yoga Outside the Rec Center … People of All Ages … Smiles & Laughter – this is where the magic is at.
It was such a fun class to teach that we kept going for another half hour. It’s so amazing how yoga connects you. It really has become my community and a constant reminder of where I am, giving a whole new meaning to home. Home is on the mat.
After bootcamp in the morning, teaching, a business meeting and packing, I found my way back to the mat for a yin class last night. Holding postures for 3-5 minutes is a great reminder of life to breathe through it and allow yourself to surrender to what is and what can be instead of fighting the resistance and trying to force something out of nothing. That release – in the connective tissues, the mind, the heart – is a bit of magic. The slowing of movement and quieting of the mind is such a necessary from a go-go-go pattern of living.
Try slowing down and finding the magic in the stillness by giving one or two poses a try.
