Stop what you are doing and take a deep breath. No, really. Stop what you are doing. Close your eyes. Take a deep inhale and just let it go. Repeat. Notice your shoulders fall away from your ears. Allow the tension to release from your jaw.
Set an intention for the day. Let this be the idea or dedication you need to make yourself better today than you were yesterday. And listen to it. Let it build within you and grow bigger than you even imagined.
Don’t let the breath go. When you focus on the breath, you are able to calm the mind. This to me is the power of yoga. Give it a try, not once but at least three times because there are so many types and so many different teachers – you just need one to speak to you. And if it isn’t, notice why you are resisting it? What about it/them is challenging you and causing you to feel the way you are?
It’s all about breathing through the challenges on the mat – so you can breath off the mat. It’s about noticing your breath, your thoughts and inner/outer strength. It’s about being more mindful in the way you speak, act, eat and live.
And don’t forget to breathe.
