Day 5 of the #LiveOutLoudEveryday Challenge: #Play
“We are never more fully alive, more completely ourselves, or more deeply engrossed in anything, than when we are at play,” – Charles E. Schaefer
Play has taken on different meanings with different ages and even at times seems to disappear as other things seemed more important. And yet it’s the one thing that when you do, makes you feel alive and inspired to get all the to-do’s done.
This is a theme I’ve become more aware of as it’s easy to take life too seriously. That’s why you may see more pictures of me upside down than right side up because, to me, that’s a way to play. Yoga off the mat is my reminder that it’s ok to be silly, to let go of trying to be perfect and how much more fun it is to bring play in when it comes to a goal. Like with the handstand – sometimes it works and I can hold it, a lot of times I fall out but with that playful mindset, it’s fun every time and makes me feel alive. It makes me feel like a kid again – who doesn’t want to be a kid again?
Today, give yourself the permission to play. Choose play in the mundane tasks at work or chores at home and notice that it can be more than just something to cross off your to-do list. Take a pictures of yourself at play or something that reminds you to play today and make sure to tag @inspiredbymovement #LiveOutLoudEveryday #Play in your post!
